The Unsafe Space.
The images are taken from a “journey back to childhood”. A subject I have revisited throughout time.
The photographs show a forbidden place near where I grew up in Blackpool Lancashire.
The tunnel was a thoroughfare under what was a derelict train track. As a child, I was not allowed to enter this space or play due to potential threats from strangers and or “wierdo’s”.
The images attempt to portray a feeling from childhood of imagination, a place forbidden which might create allure, innocence and transformation as we leave behind the things of childhood and the journey that we take into adulthood.
A child was abducted around this space — that child may or may not have been me.
